Finished Abstract Flowers. Watercolor, gesso, pencil, watercolor. This is fun, although I'll do the next one a bit more carefully. I messed up the pencil rubbing... as in missed some and didn't catch until I was doing the final wash.

Work in Progress - Abstract flowers following the tutorial posted on Carla Sonheim's blog. Not the best picture, but you get the idea. Watercolor and gesso thus far into the project.

Day 1 - Art Project 2012

Happy New Year, Everyone! 

I'm starting another year of creating some type of art every single day, This blog will document my work. I'm still working out whether I'll post every day, or once a week, but for now I'll continue in the format I used last year.. a post a day. 

For Day 1 - January 1 2012

Mixed Media Canvas - 8 inches x 8inches x 2 inches. Abstract Landscape using acrylic paints over textured base. This technique was one I learned from Tracie Lyn Huskamp in 2010, and I've added my own twists. This particular piece is being submitted tomorrow in the Allied Arts of Whatcom County Members Show, and will be on display from January 6 through January 28th. 

Day 365 of 365 (December 31)

Abstract Canvas (8x8x2) work in progress - several layers in. String and additional lace added.  This is not the best photo, I took it before the gel medium dried, so that is the white you see. More work will be done!

It's New Year's Eve, and I'm proud to say I have created art every day for this past year. There are days it's been a challenge, however I've decided I'll be continuing  with the Art 365 Challenge during 2012 as well.
