This blog records my travels in the Art Project 2012 where I show what I've been creating every single day of 2012.

Art Project 2012 - July 20
Water color study of Monarda/Bee Balm from my garden. Not wonderful, but it's a beginning. The inspiration for this is pictured here.

Day 106 Art Project 2012

Day 70 Art Project 2012
Finished Abstract Flowers. Watercolor, gesso, pencil, watercolor. This is fun, although I'll do the next one a bit more carefully. I messed up the pencil rubbing... as in missed some and didn't catch until I was doing the final wash.
Check out the tutorial from Carla Sonheim.

Day 69 Art Project 2012
Work in Progress - Abstract flowers following the tutorial posted on Carla Sonheim's blog. Not the best picture, but you get the idea. Watercolor and gesso thus far into the project.

Day 32 - Art Project 2012
An imaginary creature Artist Trading Card, creating using Carla Sonheim's technique. I took this class when at Artfest in 2010, I believe. It's great fun!

Day 22 - Art Project 2012
Start of a winter spread in my garden themed journal - Work in Progress.
I'm following along with Tracie Lyn Huskamp as she creates a Garden Journal this year... check out her blog. She's doing some tutorials on it throughout this year.
I started with an old field journal from the 1940's - mostly unused so lot's of clear pages (I snagged this one in a free book box at a book sale), adding Absorbant Ground to the pages. I did a light blue wash of watercolor, dotting some away with paper towels, and then stamped the corners with a snow flake stamp in pale blue. This picture doesn't show it well at all.
I sprayed this page with watercolor (for another project) and used the paint from the snowflakes I'd used as a mask to add shapes to the page (top picture).

Day 21 - Art Project 2012
Another Doodles Unleashed Intuitive watercolor - WIP. I like this one a bit better. We'll see what develops. :)

Day 20 - Art Project 2012
Intuitive watercolor 'painting' from Doodles Unleashed - Strathmore workshop. I was most unhappy with it, and whatever I did made it worse... so I cut it into ATC backgrounds. I'll add more doodling to them eventually.

Day 211 of 365 (July 30)
This was for the "Friends of Herman Overflow" swap I hosted on atcsforall.com. Here's the story:
Herman (a cute little mouse character created by Julie) decided to throw a party. He had party hats for everyone!
Goldie was so pleased that Herman had a waterproof hat for her!

This was for the "Friends of Herman Overflow" swap I hosted on atcsforall.com. Here's the story:

Ollie Owl (see yesterday's post) convinced Boyd Bird it was fun to stay up late! Poor Boyd was really tired by the time the moon came out.

Ollie Owl liked to stay up late... so he was a bit tired at the beginning of the party.

#51 of 365 (Feb 20)
Another watercolor with a sense of humor...
And it occurs to me that, amazingly, I have made it for 50 days doing some type of art every day. And not all of what I create ends up posted here... *happy face here*
